Glandwr is a superb modern self-catering and pet-friendly holiday cottage located on the banks of the Dovey Estuary. The property retains most of its original features with stunning views and close to the centre of the village. The cottage has direct access to a stony beach which is a great location for a picnic during warm sunny days throughout the year, whilst watching wildlife on the river. Ten minutes’ walk away is the golden sands of Aberdovey beach and Cardigan Bay.
This south-facing property is spacious and very comfortable with outstanding views from all the principal bedrooms and the sitting room across the estuary to the mountains beyond. It is approached from the road by a short set of steps. Glandwr is near the pretty local park with superb views of the bay, a small Cambrian railway 'halt' and the Old Roman Road providing a wonderful walk along the estuary. The Penhelig Arms Hotel is situated nearby offering an excellent selection of beers, wines and an outstanding restaurant.
Further afield you can explore the Ynys-Hir RSPB Reserve which is a wildlife haven in the heart of Wales, made famous by the BBC Spring Watch programme, The Dyfi Osprey Project (please follow the link to watch live: http://www.dyfiospreyproject.com/live-streaming), The Ceredigion Heritage Coast along Cardigan Bay, the Caber Idris mountain range and not forgetting the lakes, small towns and villages, picturesque resorts and harbours.
The accommodation is tastefully modernised, decorated and furnished with traditional character and contemporary design.
Sleeps 8 people in 2 double bedrooms and 2 twin bedrooms.

Ground Floor
Small outside terrace with bench. Front entrance to hallway with a traditional Victorian tiled floor.
Kitchen/Dining Room - Granite kitchen worktop with gas hob, double electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, glass top dining table seating 8 people, LCD TV/DVD combo & wood burner. Oak flooring. French doors leading to small rear yard.
Utility Room - Washer/dryer, sink, compact shower room, toilet and hand basin.
Outside Storage Space - Small rear yard with hot and cold hand shower, a lockable rear door for the safe storage of bikes and equipment. Foldaway table & four chairs. Although the rear yard is enclosed children and pets are to be supervised at all times.
First Floor
Bedroom 1 - Rear twin bedroom (beds are 2'6) freestanding wardrobe, set of drawers, hairdryer.
Twin beds can also be converted into a king-size bed - please notify us at time of booking if a king-size bed is required. Please note, this option may not be available for last-minute bookings.
Bathroom - Bath with thermostatically controlled overhead shower, WC, basin.
Living Room - Large window seat, 2 cosy settees, wall mounted SMART TV with Freeview, BOSE I POD docking system, gas coal effect fire, fantastic views over the Dovey Estuary. Under the window, the cupboard has a 3D DVD Player.
Second Floor
Bedroom 2 - Rear twin bedroom (beds are 2'6) built-in wardrobe, set of drawers, hairdryer.
Twin beds can also be converted into a king-size bed - please notify us at time of booking if a king-size bed is required. Please note, this option may not be available for last-minute bookings.
Bedroom 3 - Front king-size bedroom with views over the Dovey Estuary, built-in wardrobe, set of draws and vanity table with chair, hairdryer.
Shower room - Shower with thermostatically controls, WC and large sink
Third Floor (stairs are curved and quite steep but have handrails)
Attic bedroom - King size bedroom with cupboard storage, hairdryer, en-suite compact shower room, toilet and sink. Beware low beams - mind your head...

Location

Aberdyfi / Aberdovey
The picturesque harbour village of Aberdyfi / Aberdovey is renowned for its mild climate, sandy beaches, sailing and a championship 18-hole links golf course (rated in the UK's top 100). The village is often referred to as “an artist's paradise” with its pastel coloured cottages, small shops, inns and excellent restaurants which specialise in local seafood, all helping to create a relaxed welcoming atmosphere. Aberdyfi / Aberdovey boasts some of the finest beaches in Britain, with four miles of golden sand-dune backed shoreline running north to Tywyn, home of the world-famous Talyllyn narrow gauge Steam Railway, crab fishing and the famous Dyfi Donkeys. The beaches are popular with sunbathers, swimmers, surfers and fishermen while the estuary attracts a wide range of water sports enthusiasts.
The peaks of the Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy ranges are within easy reach and are complemented by the charm of the Dyfi, Dysynni and Tal y Llyn valleys nearby. An ideal area for walkers, climbers and wildlife watchers, and a wonderful all-year-round location.

Booking and Payment
Dyfi Cottages (& Aberdyfi Holidays) is a marketing agency and we do not own or manage any of the accommodation listed on our websites. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement between you and the property owner.
For bookings made more than 8 weeks before arrival a 30% deposit is required at the time of booking. The balance is then due 8 weeks before the holiday commences.
For bookings made less than 8 weeks before arrival, the total amount is payable at the time of booking.
Security Deposits
Security deposits are not normally required. Please note that guests are still liable for any damage or additional cleaning required as a result of their actions.
Arrival & Departure times
Arrival time is from 4 pm/ Departure time is no later than 10 am.
Short Breaks
Short breaks are available out of season and can be booked for a minimum of 3 nights from the following days:
- Friday to Monday for a 3-night weekend break
- Monday to Friday for a 4-night midweek break
During November to February arrival days may be more flexible nearer the time although these exclude Sundays and any holidays.
Bed Linen & Towels
Bed linen & towels are provided.
Heating & Electric
Heating and electric are included in the accommodation price (logs are not provided but can be purchased locally).
Infant facilities
Travel cot & high chair (bedding is not provided for the travel cot). Fixed stairgate on the entrance to the kitchen/dining room.
Pets
Maximum of two small well behaved pets welcome at an additional cost of £25 each (to be kept downstairs please).
Wi-Fi
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available. The owner cannot guarantee the availability or speed of the service as this is dependent on third party suppliers.
Parking
There are two free car passes provided in Glandwr for the ‘pay & display’ car parks in Aberdyfi. The nearest one is 300 metres away at Penhelig. (spaces are subject to availability). Sorry, we are unable to provide additional car passes.
Location
Glandwr is situated on the seafront and just a short walk to the beach and local amenities.
Access Health and Safety
The maximum number of guests in this accommodation is 8.
Care must be taken to the attic bedroom as the stairs are curved and steep and have low beams.
Glandwr is situated on the main road and there are no pavements, please take care as the road can get quite busy. Be especially cautious when children and pets are exiting the property.
Please contact us immediately if there are any specific needs you may have, including disability needs. It is essential that we are given as much information as possible about your requirements to avoid booking an unsuitable property. Some locations do not lend themselves to easy access and facilities, so please ask first to avoid disappointment. The choice is ultimately the responsibility of the person booking the property, and we cannot be held responsible should a property be booked that is unsuitable or inappropriate.
