Harbour View Cottage was originally the home of a working Aberdovey family. Boats were built in the small bay by the “Penhelig Arms” and the local fish merchant had his home and shop just five doors down the terrace by the small jetty. Built somewhere around 1850 on the bank of the Dovey Estuary the cottage enjoys stunning views, both out to sea and across the estuary to Ynyslas, Borth and the Cambrian Range beyond.
Today, Harbour View Cottage has been restored to a high standard by the current owners and enjoys one of the most beautiful views to be found in the area. Within 100 yards of the cottage are the Cambrian Coast railway halt and the welcoming “Penhelig Arms” which is a pub with an excellent selection of beers & wines, and an outstanding restaurant. The cottage overlooks the Memorial Garden where the Heroes of WW2 are commemorated. This is an excellent place to start a walk, along the historic Roman Road towards Picnic Island, or along the road and foreshore (at low tide) to the village centre less than half a mile away. Walking, fishing, sailing, windsurfing, eating and drinking are all pursuits to be enjoyed locally. Alternatively, just sit and enjoy the view. It’s your holiday after all.
Further afield you can explore the Ynys-Hir RSPB Reserve which is a wildlife haven in the heart of Wales, made famous by the BBC Spring Watch programme, The Dyfi Osprey Project (please follow the link to watch live: http://www.dyfiospreyproject.com/live-streaming), The Ceredigion Heritage Coast along Cardigan Bay, the Cambrian Mountains and not forgetting the lakes, small towns and villages, picturesque resorts and harbours.

Comments from the Visitors' Book
Really Loved the cottage and the views are fantastic. We couldn’t believe the beautiful clear blue sky and the stunning sunset over the harbour. The cottage is very handy for the Penhelig Arms and we would definitely stay again.
Aberdovey, we love you. There are lots to do when the sky is blue, stunning views, breath-taking beaches, and scrumptious ice-creams galore, Aberdovey, we love you, it’s a shame we’ve got to goo!* * ‘Black-country pronunciation of ‘go’!
"A most enjoyable rest & a very comfortable stay. Thank you! We discovered the Blue Lake in the hills above Fairbourne. What a secret gem & defiantly worth going to. "
"A great cottage with fantastic views. We have had a really enjoyable relaxing few days! Thank you, and for the wine and chocolates! "
"What a lovely little cottage. We had looked forward to these few days to celebrate my husband’s birthday and we were not disappointed. The cottage is very well set up and the views are fantastic. We visited the antique shops in Machynlleth (there are many) and had wonderful walks along the beach at Aberdovey. We chose the Proper Gander restaurant in Tywyn for the birthday meal, which was absolutely lovely. The rest of the time we just sat and enjoyed the view. It would be great to come back again. "
"Great week – lovely cottage, great weather. Our second stay at Harbour View, still 1st class. Top food in ‘The Pen’. Also, recommend the ‘Cross Foxes’ near Dolgellau. "
"Lovely week despite the weather on the last day! Have really enjoyed the proximity of the railway and all it had to offer, epically an evening ride to Fairbourne to eat at the Indian Cuisine restaurant by the station, 7.20 ish train there and 9.54 train back – perfect, would recommend it if you like good Indian food. Enjoyed going to Portmeirion by train too. Fantastic scenery. "
A well-equipped, comfortable cottage with wonderful sea views. Weather has been perfect for getting out and about – enjoyable visits to Powys Castle, Barmouth, Taly y Llyn railway and CAT
